Manhattan Aquariums is a new retail outlet for everyone to enjoy. The location began as a hub for NY Aquarium Service but has now developed into a showroom and retail location so that the public can access our knowledge and purchase fish and goods from us too.
Joseph Caparatta, a lifelong aquarist at heart, founded NY Aquarium Service in 2001. His hard-work and 20 plus years experience has created a wonderful company whose number one goal is the installation and care of its clients' aquariums. We specialize in the design and installation of new aquariums as well as the ongoing maintenance of any type of aquarium whether new or old.
We are also proud to now offer Unique Corals.com, a website dedicated to the sale of high quality hand-picked corals and fish. This site is different then many others of its type in that everything offered for sale has been photographed, described and individually priced. What you see is what you get–"WYSIWYG" as the common acronym goes.
Our retail store is quite unique, as we have gone the extra mile in the creation of our display tanks to showcase what was once common in any large aquarium shop. Having been witness to the drop in true aquarium stores since the exponential growth in e-commerce related websites as well as from the expansion of big box superstores, we take pride in knowing that we have created something that stands almost alone in this day and age.
With a knowledgeable staff of 12, NYAS now enjoys sharing its collective experience with the opening of Manhattan Aquariums. Within our location lies a multitude of displays including a stingray touch tank exhibit, a chameleon rainforest waterfall display, a 500 gallon living reef aquarium, a 700 gallon Lake Tanganyika cichlid display tank as well as many other setups that are worth seeing even if you are just sight-seeing in NYC and need a quick dose of nature.
