The Banggai Cardinalfish is a long-time staple of the aquarium hobby. It is peaceful, hardy and will easily accept most pellet, flake and frozen food. This is a fish that is perfect for any size tank - It is always out and about swimming and it allows other fish in the aquarium to feel safe.
Manhattan Aquarium sells captive-bred Cardinalfish that are already conditioned to aquarium life and therefore hardier than wild specimens.
It is a very attractive fish with a simple yet sophisticated color scheme and marking. Its overall body coloration is a shimmering silver, highlighted with pearly white spots. Bold, black stripes along the body accentuate the long fins to elegant effect.
These graceful, nocturnal fish are typically found dwelling amongst silty seagrass beds, sea anemones, mangrove roots, and coral ledges by day.
