Achilles Tang
The Achilles surgeonfish or tang is not an easy species to keep in captivity. Achilles tangs can reach up to 9.5 inches and its primary diet is algae, although it will eat frozen, flake or pellet food.
It is from the Hawaiian Islands, Micronesia, and the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. This fish needs a lot of swimming room with high flow and a minimum of 120-gallon tank for a small specimen is recommended. This fish is a territorial species and will probably be aggressive toward more passive tangs currently in the tank or any tang that is added after it. To help prevent this, try to make the Achilles tang the last tang added to the tank.
This fish is suspectible to ich, so care should be taken when adding the fish to your display tank.
